Paying homage to Braddon’s history with a unique landscape plan.
When Spacelab landscape architects, Geoff Bunnett (Associate Director) and Brendon Hill (Senior Landscape Architect) first envisaged the landscape of the proposed redevelopment of Block 5, Section 30 in Braddon, their hope was to produce a robust and timeless design which would accommodate a palette of materials reflecting the location, its heritage and future uses.
“The landscape overall will complement the built form, picking up on the shapes and forms of the architecture to maximise the private and public open space for the site,” the duo advised, adding that one of their main goals for the site is to make it a place of congregation and conversation. “We will create gathering spaces; places to meet, places to talk and places for everyone to share.”
Bunnett and Hill will also ensure they maximise the northerly aspect on offer with this site and will select materials that complement and reflect the strong architectural form of the development. By incorporating the shapes and forms already present in nature, their direction will harmonise with the surrounding spaces and streetscape, while still giving the precinct its own unique feel.
